Science is our passion and our mission at Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is to help move science forward in order to understand questions about disease that will ultimately improve the quality of our lives. But as we go about our business we cannot ignore the important links we have to our local communities and the planet.
Dating back to our early years as a company, CST has maintained a commitment to investing in community organizations in the North Shore area of Boston. Our unique Small Grants Program allows funding decisions to be made by groups of CST employees who review and vote on grant proposals. Over the past 13 years, the Small Grants Program has evolved into three separate employee committees based on mutual interests in science education, community engagement, and environmental protection.
The Education in Science Committee focuses on improving science education in public schools while the Community Grants Committee supports social needs and recreational opportunities in local communities. The Green Committee oversees environmental conservation and educational grants, while also serving as a vehicle for sustainability programs to help reduce our environmental footprint. All three committees meet once in the spring and once in the fall to review grant applications from qualified non-profit and community organizations, as well as public schools in Boston’s North Shore area. Based on positive feedback and thank you notes from our grantees, it is clear that our grants, while small in amount, have had a significant impact on their work.
